Knights fall to Golden Eagles on final day of Region IX Challenge
Cheyenne, Wyo. – North Platte Community College wrapped up the Region IX Challenge on Saturday with a three-set loss to Laramie County Community College, (26-28, 23-25, 13-25).
Khloee Wright led the Knights with a strong performance, tallying 10 kills and 13 digs. Isabelle Reichman added pressure from the service line, delivering five aces.
"Today was a hard loss because we had control in both the first and second sets," said head coach Alexa McCall. "We can only learn from these situations and work toward better outcomes."
In the first set, Reichman posted three early service aces to help North Platte take an 8-5 lead. Knights and Golden Eagles continued to trade points in a tightly contested battle that extended into extra points, where the Golden Eagles edged out the win.
The second set mirrored the first, with both teams struggling to build separation. Tied late once again, Laramie County managed to string together key points to take a two-set lead.
Laramie County carried their momentum into the third set using a 10-0 run to take a 19-7 lead. A kill from Jenna Claflin temporarily halted the run, but the deficit proved too much to overcome as Laramie County sealed the match with a 25-13 victory.
