Bio

Alexa McCall, a former Knights student-athlete and assistant coach, became head coach of the historic Knights program in 2014 following the retirement of NJCAA Hall of Famer Sally Thalken.

Under her leadership, North Platte captured three consecutive Region IX championships from 2018 to 2020, earned the NJCAA Northwest Plains District title and secured a berth in the 2020 NJCAA Division II National Championship.

Entering her 12th season leading the black and gold, McCall has compiled a career record of 164-233 while successfully guiding the program through its move to NJCAA Division I competition prior to the start of the 2025 season.

As a player, McCall helped lead the Knights to a Region IX Division II title and a ninth-place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament during her sophomore year. She was recognized as both an All-Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference and All-Region IX Division II honoree.

After her time at NPCC, McCall transferred to Concordia University, where she continued her volleyball career, before serving as a student assistant in 2012.

McCall graduated from Concordia with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and an emphasis in mathematics. Aside from her coaching duties, she serves as a mathematics instructor in North Platte.
