Bio

The 2026 season will mark Mark Franzen’s second year as head coach of the North Platte Community College Knights softball program.

Franzen has more than a decade of experience coaching local youth softball. He began his coaching career in 2007 as head coach of the North Platte Express (12U–18U), leading the team to a Wyoming State Championship and a berth at the National World Series during his nine-year tenure. In 2014, he took on a broader leadership role as head coach of the Express (12U–16U), overseeing all aspects of the program.

Before joining NPCC, Franzen also served as an assistant coach with the North Platte Junior Belles (12U–16U) and the North Platte Express (12U–14U).

A 1991 graduate of North Platte High School, Franzen earned an Associate of General Studies from Mid-Plains Community College in 2014. He is also the owner of Franzen Plumbing in North Platte.
