Men’s golf places fifth to open spring season

La Junta, Colo. – The North Platte Community College men's golf team finished play at the Lamar/Otero Combined Tournament, finishing fifth in the team standings with a two-day total of 59-over par.

Simon Capocci led the way, tying for fifth individually. He opened with a 73 in the first round, improving in round two by three to finish with a two-day total of 143 (+3).

Layne Smotzer placed 18th after carding his best round Thursday of 75 followed by a 77 on Friday, finishing at 152 (+12). 

Chandler Frahm recorded his best round on Friday to finish with a total score of 157 (+17). Darin Neben rounded out the Knights in the field, finishing in 26th with a two-round total of 167 (+27).

North Platte will return to the course for the two-day McCook Community College Tournament at the Heritage Hills Golf Course in McCook March 26-27.
