Men’s golf finish third in last fall meet

Lamar, Colo. – The North Platte Community College men's golf team closed out their fall season at the Lamar Community College Tournament, finishing third overall with a team total of 98-over par.

Freshmen Simon Capocci and Chander Frahm led the Knights, each carding a two-day score of 162 (+22) to tie for 13th place. Capocci turned in his best round on Friday with an 80, while Frahm cut 14 strokes off his opening score to finish strong.

Jason Jensen improved by 11 strokes in the second round to post a total of 164 (+24) and secure 15th place. Layne Smotzer followed with a standout second round, bouncing back from a 91 on Thursday to record a 79 on Friday and finish 19th.

Darin Neben rounded out the Knights in the field, finishing in 27th with a two-round total of 189 (+49).

With the fall season behind them, the Knights will regroup and return to competition in the spring.
