Knights finish fifth at Northeastern Tournament

Sterling, Colo. – The North Platte Community College men's golf team wrapped up the Northeastern Junior College Tournament on Friday, finishing fifth overall with a two-day team total of 53-over par.

Freshman Simon Capocci led the way carding a 75 on both days. Capocci's two-day score of 150 (+7) helped him finish in a tie for 13th place.
Layne Smotzer bested his opening round by three strokes to finish with a two-round total of 153 (+10) to tie for 18th. Chandler Frahm posted his best round on Friday, carding a 76 to tie for 23rd in the field.

Darin Neben opened with an 84 and improved by two strokes in his final round, finishing with a total score of 166 (+23). Jason Jensen rounded out the Knights in the field, finishing in 38th with a two-round total of 171 (+28).

North Platte will return to the course for their last fall meet at the Lamar Community College Tournament in Lamar, Colo. on Oct. 16-17.
