Knights finish fifth at McCook Community College Tournament

McCook, Neb. – The North Platte Community College men's golf team finished play at the McCook Community College Invitational at Heritage Hills Golf Course, finishing fifth in the team standings with a two-day total of 94-over par.

Sophomore Layne Smotzer led the way, tying for 23rd individually. He opened with an 86 in the first round, improving in round two by seven to finish with a two-day total of 165 (+21).

Simon Capocci  placed 27th after carding his best round Thursday of 81 followed by an 86 on Friday, finishing at 167 (+23). Jason Jensen shot an opening round 83 and added three strokes on day two to place 29th overall.

Chandler Frahm recorded his best round on Thursday to finish with a total score of 171 (+27). Darin Neben rounded out the Knights in the field, finishing in 35th with a two-round total of 175 (+31).

The Knights will return to action Oct. 2-3 at the Northeastern Junior College Tournament in Sterling, Colo.
