Knights place fifth at North Platte Community College Tournament

North Platte, Neb. – The North Platte Community College men's golf team hosted its home tournament this week, finishing in fifth place at the North Platte Community College Invitational. The Knights posted a team score of 96-over par across the two-day event.

Freshman Simon Capocci led the way for North Platte, tying for 11th individually. He opened with a 79 in the first round and followed it with a 78 in the second, finishing with a two-day total of 157 (+14).

Chandler Frahm tied for 22nd after carding rounds of 81 and 82, finishing at 163 (+20). Layne Smotzer shot an opening round 81 and added five strokes on day two to place 27th overall.

Jason Jensen recorded his best round on Thursday to finish with a total score of 181 (+38). Darin Neben rounded out the Knights in the field, finishing in 37th with a two-round total of 192 (+49).

Knights will return to the course for the McCook Community College Tournament at Heritage Hills Golf Course on Sept. 25-26.
