Bio

Jacob Brandl enters his second season at the helm of the North Platte Community College Knights men’s basketball program.

Originally from North Platte, Brandl was a two-year starter for the NPCC men’s basketball team from 2006-08. After NPCC, Brandl transferred to Dana College where he continued his basketball career.

Brandl began coaching as a student assistant at Midland University. Then spent eight years at Dakota Wesleyan University (S.D.) climbing the ladder to become the associate head coach in 2019-20.

Before taking on his current role, he served as the head coach of the McCook Community College men's basketball program for four seasons, compiling a 47–72 overall record. In his first year, Brandl led the Indians to an appearance in the Region IX Tournament championship game. Over his tenure at McCook, he coached 12 players who earned Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference honors and eight who received All-Region IX recognition.

Brandl holds an Associate of Arts degree from Mid-Plains Community College and a bachelor's degree in history and secondary education, as well as a field endorsement in social science and coaching from Midland University. He also holds a master's degree in education policy and administration from Dakota Wesleyan University.
