Trinidad, Colo. - Brady Kennison's 39-point explosion powered the Knights past Trinidad State, as they seized control early and rolled to a 99-68 victory.
Kennison shot 8-of-11 from three point range and 13-of-20 from the field, while Josh Osayanrhion added eight rebounds and two blocks.
"Everyone is going to talk about our offense but I'm really proud of our defensive effort," said head coach Jacob Brandl. " We came out with the mindset that this was a must win game and it showed."
Kennison ignited a 9-0 run for the Knights with two free throws at the 15:44 mark, and a Brandon Domsch layup soon extended North Platte's lead to 17. The Trojans managed to cut the deficit to 10, but the Knights led 46-27 at halftime.
In the second half, North Platte broke the game open with a dominant 12-0 run, expanding their lead to 31 points. They later pushed the margin to 34, leaving the Trojans with too much ground to make up, as the Knights cruised to victory.
"The challenge to our group is can we stay hungry and put a winning streak together," Brandl said. "We need to put this game behind us and go 1-0 tomorrow."
North Platte (16-12, 8-5 Region 9 South) closes out the regular season against Otero Junior College on Saturday. Tip is set for 4 p.m. in La Junta, Colo.
