Knights close out road trip with win over Laramie County
Cheyenne, Wyo. – For back-to-back days the Knights had a battle on their hands as their twenty-four point first half lead shrunk to eleven midway through the second half. North Platte responded down the stretch to earn the 94-79 win over Laramie County Community College on Saturday.
Bruce Carpenter collected his first double-double of his Knights career totaling 26 points and 12 rebounds, while fellow teammate Kayden Crosby followed up his stellar performance last night with a 20-point outing against the Golden Eagles.
Knights were not the ones who struck first but they quickly built a 15-8 lead by the 13:20 mark of the first half. Ramiah Adedigba helped push the lead to ten, however the Knights offensive dominance continued as a one-handed jam by Carpenter quickly extended the lead to twenty-four, 42-18.
The margin continued to stay above twenty for the remainder of the half, as the Knights carried a 45-23 lead into the halftime break.
North Platte had to fight off the pesky Golden Eagles who cut the deficit to eleven with 8:10 to play in the second half. A 12-2 run capped off by a pair of free throws by Carpenter helped extend the lead to 76-55 just ninety seconds later.
Laramie County would not go away quietly and continued to fight until the clock hit all zeros, but the Knights persevered through the adversity to close out the Golden Eagles on the road.
Following three road games to open the 2022-23 season, North Platte will host Cloud County Community College on Wednesday, Nov. 9 for Military Appreciation night. A meet and greet will be held at 6 p.m. with tip-off set for 7 p.m. inside the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
